Chocolate Peanut Butter Apple Dip

Chocolate Peanut Butter Apple Dip

I shared this Chocolate Peanut Butter Apple Dip concoction on my Facebook page last week, but I’ve been enjoying it so much lately that I figured I better make a whole post for it so I can refer back to it…or so you can save it or pin it for later! Since I’m eating a very strict “diet” right now while I’m in phase 1 of my new LEAP eating program, I’m trying to come up with new recipes that keep me satisfied…and this is definitely one of my favorites! I’ve enjoyed it bothย as a snack and asย a dessert. And my kids love it, too, of course!

Plus,ย it’s so simple to make…what’s not to love?

Chocolate Peanut Butter Apple Dip

Ingredients
  • ¼ cup natural peanut butter
  • 1 T raw cacao powder or cocoa powder
  • 2 T maple syrup
Instructions
  1. Stir all ingredients together with a spoon until well combined.
  2. Serve with sliced apples (or other fruit)
  3. Enjoy!
Notes
I've been using raw cacao powder exclusively lately because it has more health benefits than regular cocoa powder (it's full of antioxidants!) and it's also a less processed option. If you haven't tried it yet, I urge you to! (Link to buy in the ingredients above.)

LeAnn Nome

Hi there! Here's a little info about me: I've been married to my husband for over 10 years and I'm a stay-at-home mom to our three young kids (a six year old daughter and four year old twin boys). As you might imagine, they keep me quite busy! In early 2013, we decided that we wanted to be a healthier family. To do this, we cut out all processed foods from our home and we now eat only REAL, whole foods. (When we're on vacation or at someone's house, we're not quite as strict.) We also try to exercise every day. Our goal is to raise healthy, happy kids...while maintaining our own health and happiness along the way! I hope you will follow along with us in our journey.

  1. We tried this with your homemade graham crackers and it was sooo good!! My 9 year old daughter kept telling me it tasted familiar and we figured it out..it tastes kinda like peanut butter lara bars (or we call them balls since we roll them into balls). You may already have the recipe on your site but if not, it’s peanut butter (about 1/3 cup) and dates (about 1 cup) mixed together in a food processor. Anyways, we really enjoyed it and will try it with apples next time! Thank you! ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Great idea, Christy! In my mind, I knew there would be other uses for this…but I was drawing a blank when I was typing the post. I think staring at the picture of the apples was why I could ‘only’ think about it as an apple dip. ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad you guys liked it–thanks for sharing the feedback with me! ๐Ÿ™‚ And your mixture of peanut butter and dates sounds delicious. We would definitely enjoy those, too!

  2. We whipped this up for a snack this afternoon. It was super yummy and everyone loved it! I’ve wanted to make homemade “Nutella” but haven’t gotten around to it. While this isn’t as chocolaty, I think it would be a great spread on a sandwich with maybe even banana slices. The kids loved that idea and can’t wait to try. Thanks for keeping it simple!

  3. I made this today and YUM!! Tasted amazing. Our only trouble was that it got hard and crumbly – kids ended up rolling it into balls and eating it, lol. Maybe it’s the the of peanut butter I used? Suggestions so it’s a dip next time?

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed it! That’s funny that your kids rolled it into balls. At least they could still enjoy it, right? ๐Ÿ˜‰ I would guess the difference is based on different brands of peanut butter. I always just add more maple syrup or more peanut butter based on the consistency I’m going for, so maybe add just a bit more of the syrup next time? I know it adds more sugar, but I never worry about that too much since my kids rarely eat added sugar in their meals/snacks. I hope that helps!
