Summer Vacation

I’ve been thinking about taking a little break lately…and as summer is approaching (my daughter’s last day of school is tomorrow!), I realized I didn’t want to spend my summer days sitting inside the house working on my computer while my kids watched too much TV. Or be attached to my phone to post pictures on social media and then reply to comments. Or work through my list of blog ideas. Or take pictures of every single thing we eat.

Sure, I could tell myself I was going to spend less time working on everything…but I know myself well enough to know that I need to announce/write it down to make it actually happen. I need a blog post that says, “I’ll be back in the fall.” And then I need to say good bye…and stick to it. Does that make sense??

These next two and a half months are “it” for me. My kids will ALL be in school full time starting August 15th. They will be gone five days a week from 8:45 until 4:00 in the afternoon, leaving me very few hours with them each day…so I want to fully soak up every minute this summer. By writing this post and making it “official,” I’m giving myself permission to stop thinking about everything I could, should, or want to do with my blog and my Beachbody coaching business.

From a business standpoint, I know it’s not ideal and I’ll absolutely lose some money and momentum…but I want to spend the summer just being a mom and wife…and that’s it.

I love blogging and sharing moments of our life on Facebook. I love the interactions with people. (I feel like I’ve become friends with so many people that I’ve never even met!!) I love sharing how simple eating ‘real food’ can be.

Blogging has been my creative outlet over the last three years as a stay-at-home mom…but it’s time for me to ‘shut down’ for a little while and just go back to being a full-time stay-at-home mom while I still have that chance and the kids still want me to hang out with them.

I’ll still be over here doing “me.” That part won’t change.

I’ll still workout daily.

I’ll still be eating mostly real food.

I’ll still drink Shakeology daily.

I’ll still drink a pitcher of water every day.

The difference will be that I’m not going to take pictures of all of the above and share it on social media on a regular, every day basis! 🙂

I’m going to take the social media apps off of my phone and just focus on myself, the kids, and my husband.

Our summer is filled with so much fun stuff and I’m sure I may post on Facebook here and there (not sure I can stay away completely!)…but, for the most part, you won’t be seeing a whole lot from me until the fall and my kids are in school again.

And then I look forward to bringing you new recipes again…along with lunchbox ideas and more!

If you’re one of my Beachbody customers…I’ll still be here for you. Even though I’m going to take a short break from running any new challenge groups, you are always welcome to send me a note if you need something. And I’ll be back with a ‘back to school’ challenge group, for sure!

So, what IS on our summer agenda??? LOTS of fun stuff!!

  • YMCA day camp for the kids one week
  • Basketball camp for my daughter
  • Swimming lessons for several weeks
  • My brother’s wedding
  • Family vacation to Traverse City, MI (cannot. wait.)
  • Coach pitch baseball for the boys
  • Many trips to the zoo and local parks
  • Lots of swimming
  • TinCaps baseball games
  • Vacation Bible School for the kids
  • Annual Beachbody Coach Summit in Nashville…and I’ll get to workout with Autumn Calabrese, live and in-person! (Also cannot wait!)
  • Daily “workbook time” with the kids (I have brand new Kindergarten and 2nd grade workbooks for us to work our way through all summer.)
  • Playing in the sprinkler/kiddie pool
  • Working on our basketball skills in the driveway
  • Running…including some short runs with the kids
  • Simply ENJOYING the summer with my kids!
  • …and maybe even enjoying some adult drinks in the evening with my husband on the deck (before the mosquitoes come out in full force and ruin that idea…)

Of course, I know that some of the time I’ll want to pull my hair out because the kids are making me C-R-A-Z-Y…but I know that’s bound to will happen regardless of what I’m doing or not doing with the blog. 😉

So, there you have it! I’ll still be around, but I’m looking forward to the break. (Even though I know it’s going to be hard NOT to take pictures of some of our meals…) 😉

I’ve already cleaned up my work desk…saving what was important and throwing out anything that really didn’t matter. It’ll all be there waiting for me in the fall when I’m ready to jump back in again!

Like I said, I’m sure I’ll post a little bit here and there…so you know I’m alive and well…but it’ll be more like 1-2 posts a month, not 1-4 every day. 🙂

Hi there! Here's a little info about me: I've been married to my husband for over 10 years and I'm a stay-at-home mom to our three young kids (a six year old daughter and four year old twin boys). As you might imagine, they keep me quite busy! In early 2013, we decided that we wanted to be a healthier family. To do this, we cut out all processed foods from our home and we now eat only REAL, whole foods. (When we're on vacation or at someone's house, we're not quite as strict.)
